ENERGY PERFORMANCE CONTRACT ESTABLISHED

The team at analytics4energy worked with Downham Leisure Centre a facility operated by 1Life, based near Bromley. The facilities at the centre include a 25 metre, 6 lane swimming pool, a 100+ station gym, 70+ group exercise classes per week, a café, a netball court as well as astro-turf and grass football pitches.

1Life is a forward-thinking lifestyle and management solutions company that engages with people in local communities to enhance lives through health and wellbeing. 1Life successfully operates 25 leisure sites ranging from leisure centres to golf clubs and theatres and their goal is to deliver positive, profitable results for their clients.

With this is mind a partnership with analaytics4energy was established and an Energy Performance Contract was initiated.

OUR SURVEY REVEALED SIGNIFICANT OPPORTUNITIES

A survey of the facilities and analysis of the current energy performance was undertaken, after which it was clear that there was an opportunity to reduce operating costs through energy demand reduction.

analytics4energy worked closely with 1Life to ensure that any works carried out would not adversely affect the club or its members and also to ensure that staff understood what changes were proposed and how they would be beneficial.

MULTIPLE CHANGES LEADING TO IMMEDIATE POSTIVE RESULTS

The energy solution for this site was based around BEMS optimisation and software upgrades, intense service checks to all devices and plant as well as remedial works which included the replacement of faulty controllers and actuators. Great importance was placed on ensuring that there was no energy decay once work had been completed and halo analytics platform continuously monitors the systems and alerts our energy bureau if there is an increase in energy levels against our benchmark year.

SAVINGS EXPLAINED

Our investigation and analysis of the centre’s energy consumption compared last year baseline with this year and highlights an immediate step change in electricity usage from the date of the BEMS optimisation onwards.

The graph below shows a clear reduction in the building energy consumption throughout the whole day and not just during occupancy periods. Savings have increased month on month by further optimising the site.

The site profiles have demonstrated a predicted annual saving in excess of £40,000 in energy savings with no Client financial investment.
