System Five are proud to be working on a team that includes leading construction, facilities management and property services company, BAM Construct UK and Janus Architecture on the Perry Barr National Express Bus Depot project in Birmingham.
The project is part of a larger scheme initiated by Birmingham City Council to radically improve public transport provision to the north of the city centre and which has also included a redeveloped train station and the new bus interchange with easy access for pedestrians.
The Bus Depot project includes a three-storey maintenance depot, office and administration building and a two-storey bus servicing building.
Once complete, the project will have the capacity to park, service and maintain up to 180 buses. The depot will eventually accommodate a full fleet of electric buses which is part of the National Express commitment to a zero-emission fleet by 2030.
System Five engineers are using a Trend Control Systems IQ4 system and providing electrical monitoring, VRF system and air conditioning for offices as well as monitoring stand-alone plant, wheel balancing and a jet wash system.
