Contracts Manager, Shaun Taylor and Director, Phillip Bray, recently undertook a site visit at Arding & Hobbs to check on System Five’s progress and catch up with other team members working on this striking retrofit project.
System Five was selected by main contractor Knight Harwood to join the team working on the regeneration of the iconic Arding & Hobbs site at Clapham Junction. The impressive project team includes Stiff + Trevillion Architects, Project Manager – Blackburn & Co. Ltd, Service Engineers – NDY and W.RE.
Arding & Hobbs is a former department store and Grade II listed building which was constructed in 1910 in an Edwardian Baroque style and designed by architect James Gibson.
This famous Clapham landmark is being carefully restored, refurbished and extended creating retail and office space and a new rooftop pavilion and terrace, giving this much-loved building a new lease of life whilst celebrating its unique heritage features.
Engineers from System Five are providing a Trend Control Systems based BEMS which will monitor and control plant including ventilation, water services, VRF, downflow units and water services along with comprehensive energy management. The project is targeting BREEAM ‘Excellent’.
