Summer Solstice – An important reminder

Today – 21 June – is the Summer Solstice. It is the first day of the astronomical summer season and marks the point the northern hemisphere is pointing directly towards the Sun.

It also marks the longest day of the year, with the highest number of daylight hours seen in a single day in 2023, when we can expect at least 16 hours of daylight in the UK and in the US.

The day is celebrated in many ways throughout the world and is another reminder to us all, to take care of our planet, which is now thankfully a priority in many spheres – political, business and social.

Our industry is ideally placed to play an important role, by improving air quality, saving energy and reducing carbon emissions – all of which will improve the quality of lives for individuals, communities and businesses.
