Royal Academy Schools reopens after vital restoration

We are thrilled to hear that The Royal Academy Schools, the internationally renowned postgraduate art school at the heart of the Royal Academy of Arts, has officially reopened this week after a vital restoration and renewal project.

Designed by David Chipperfield Architects, together with Julian Harrap Architects LLP, the project has preserved the heritage of the buildings and provides fully accessible, flexible and high-quality work environment for its staff and students – the next generation of artists.

System Five, a 4energy group company, was very proud to have been selected by Knight Harwood to join the team that worked on this impressive project.

The works involved extensive structural alterations and have provided a new suite of professional specialist workshops, library, canteen and leisure facilities.

System Five’s engineers adapted and extended an existing Trend Control Systems based BEMS to cater for new heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems along with kitchen ventilation and comprehensive metering, all of which will ensure the comfort and functioning of the school and allow the space to operate with much improved energy efficiency.
