System Five is proud to have a long-standing relationship with the University of Essex who we have been working with since 2017. Throughout that time our Service Team have been the incumbent maintenance and service provider for the University, which provides a wide range of undergraduate, masters and postgraduate courses to over 15,000 students.
Our team provide regular service visits to their largest campus in Colchester as well as the Southend-on-Sea Campus and the Loughton Campus which is home to the East 15 Acting School. Our engineers review and fine tune the BEMS which serves the sites including student accommodation, lecture theatres, sports hall and cafeterias.
Our latest works, alongside the Lindsey Group is a decarbonisation project taking place at the Essex Business School in Wivenhoe Park, which is located within the University’s Colchester Campus. The School’s research agenda has an emphasis on sustainability practices, corporate responsibility and key technologies and they are the university’s largest department with over 2,000 researchers, students and entrepreneurs.
Engineers from System Five’s Special Projects team will be undertaking a major updating project at the School, which will make a significant contribution to the University’s Net Zero goals, and our works will include upgrading their existing Trend Control Systems to IQ4, installation of heat pump integration, as well as monitoring. In addition, all mechanical pumps and plant such as CHP and boilers will be replaced or upgraded and with energy efficient Air Source Heat Pumps and when complete the building will have renewably powered heating, hot water, natural cooling and ventilation.
